Animal has been selected for the official competition of the Muscat International Film Festival

Selected among more than 100 short films, Nayla Al Khaja’s short film Animal enters the official competition program at the 10th edition of the Muscat International Film Festival (MIFF, Oman, March 26-31, 2018). This competition addresses the GCC and Oman film-makers to support and encourage them to make more movies with compelling stories.

Held every two years, the MIFF has seen the participation of some of the big names from around the world including actors Forest Whitaker, Susan Sarandon and Amitabh Bachchan. Mohammad al Kindi, president of the Oman Film Society, organizer of the event, said, “In 2018, we are going to be bigger and more high-profile. Last year, the response was excellent and we expect a bigger response this time too.”

This year, a total of 49 Omani films (22 short films, 20 feature films and 7 documentaries) will be screened along with scores of other films from around the world. The six-day festival will also witness special screenings for women and children and will cover issues of the region, both political and social. The MIFF 2018 will also host special workshops on the art of scriptwriting, editing and cinematography, along with premieres and additional screening of short films from all around the world.
